What is Secondlife?

Second Life is an online virtual world developed by Linden Lab, which was launched on June 23, 2003. It's not a traditional game with set objectives or manufactured conflicts, but rather a 3D immersive environment where users, known as "Residents," create customizable avatars to interact with others, explore user-generated content, and build their own experiences.

The platform allows for a wide range of activities, including socializing in music clubs, role-playing communities, virtual cinemas, shopping, and even attending educational classes or events. Users can create, buy, sell, and rent virtual items, land, and property using Linden Dollars (L$), the in-world currency that can be exchanged for real money, creating a real economy within the virtual space.

Second Life emphasizes self-expression and inclusivity, with thousands of communities and ever-changing landscapes built by its users. It features age-restricted areas: general for under 18, moderate for adults, and adult for verified users over 18. Communication happens through voice chat, messaging, and group interactions, and the world is accessible via desktop viewers or the official mobile app found on the Apple App store or Google Play store!

It maintains a dedicated user base, with around one million regular users!
